Exclaimer Cloud - Signatures for G Suite signature contains two dashes

Scenario

You use Exclaimer Cloud - Signatures for G Suite, configured with client-side (Gmail) synchronization. When composing messages in Gmail, you notice that the synchronized signature contains two dashes. For example:

Reason

This behaviour is the default behaviour for G-Suite, and is caused by an option called Insert this signature before quoted text in replies and remove the “—“ line that precedes it being disabled.

Solution

To remove these dashes, each user (who is experiencing the issue) should follow the steps below:

  1. Login to Gmail, here.

  2. Navigate to Settings, in the top right on the window:

  3. Within Settings, select the General tab.

  4. Scroll down to Signature options.

  5. Check the Insert this signature before quoted text in replies and remove the “—“ line that precedes it option:



  6. Save changes.

Note: Remember, this needs to be done by each user, who experiences this issue.
